Hi Roland,

I certainly hope that the changes in product lifecycle stick and eZ Systems has a good run in the coming releases. That being said sticking to a deadline isn't any benefit either if you cut too many things to get it out on time :)

In regards to the admin interface we have done some work in this region already but we are cautious to continue given the possibility of changes within the core product and the added maintenance issues that would cause for us in upgrading and supporting new features. The admin interface needs to become a lot more block/plugin based with the ability to add and remove components as well as such components becoming access controlled so that features and links simply don't exist if you don't have access, which removes quite a lot of training and questions surrounding the admin interface, not to mention the continued "i want more access" requests.

Hi Andrew,

I really fully understand your will to remain cautious ! Though, this new roadmap reflect a change at eZ System regarding the product lifecycle, so i hope and i think eZ will not disapoint you here ! One of the main change in our process being to deliver releases on a fix time plan more than on a fix scope plan. So the scope of the release might evolve (up to the point where we freeze it) but the release date should not move from end of september and end of march !

Regarding the admin interface, i understand your view as well, unfortunately we must be realistic, and this will hardly be possible significantly earlier than 4.3 as there is still a lot of work to be done. We might have some contributions, collaborations or early work to share before the fix release. I would love to catch any input from you regarding this topic.

Cheers,
